Abstract
L’hypnose fut l’une des premières méthodes thérapeutiques utilisée par Sigmund Freud. Il est souvent affirmé qu’il s’en détourna, afin de bâtir la psychanalyse, et qu’il trouvait l’hypnose insatisfaisante. Nous étudions ici l’évolution des rapports entre Freud et l’hypnose, et montrons que sa position était pour le moins complexe et ambivalente. Freud l’utilisait au moins jusqu’en 1924, et ne cessa de s’interroger à son propos.
Hypnosis was one of the first therapeutic methods used by Sigmund Freud. It is often asserted that he turned away from it, to develop psychoanalysis, and that he found hypnosis unsatisfactory. We study here the evolution of connections between Freud and hypnosis, and show that his position was at least complex and ambivalent. Freud used it until 1924 (at least), and did not stop wondering in its comment.
